Benign paroxysmal torcicolis in children
Benign paroxysmal torticolysis usually affects babies and is characterized by an increase in seizures as they mature. Episodes of involuntary bends or turns of the head, vomiting and ataxia can last from several hours to several days.
Benign paroxysmal tortikoliz completely passes in the senior preschool age. All children with this diagnosis should conduct a neuroimaging study of the head and neck area.
Benign Paroxysmal Torticolysis:
– Infant and early childhood (average debut age of 1.2 years)
– Episodes of involuntary bends or turns of the head, nausea and ataxia lasting from several hours to several days
– Lack of symptoms between attacks
– In 73% of cases, a family history of migraine is detected.
